Yeah, Right.

I don’t like Tui ads. I think they are stupid.

Here’s what Wikipedia says about them:

Tui is promoted through a humorous advertising campaign which uses stereotypes, heavy irony and the phrase Yeah Right. These advertisements have caused some controversy, such as a billboard in Wellington stating ‘Camilla for Queen? Yeah Right’ and one stating ‘Aucklanders are people too. Yeah Right.’

Firstly, it’s not humorous.

Secondly, it’s not just irony – it’s a goddam “not” joke.

Camilla for Queen… NOT!!! Aucklanders are people too… NOT!!!

And these unimaginative fucks at Tui’s marketing department, when they’re not coming up with the grand “stealing beer from promo girls” TVCs, keep pumping this shit out. And they get paid for it. To keep coming up with “not” jokes.

And there are 26,000 Google hits for pages in New Zealand which have “yeah right” in them, and they’re almost all brilliantly copying the same joke that was in fashion among teenagers for about three weeks in 1987.

Just stop it. You’re all in big trouble.
