Could the real Ryan Sproull…
by Ryan Sproull
I once hopelessly Googled my own name and found a post by Cass Goodwin on a goddam LiveJournal of all things, referring to me as “Ryan Sproull, hopeless Googler of his own name.” Previously, this activity produced about five results, one of them rather severely embarrassing from about 12 years ago. Now I get pages and pages, partly thanks to Kiwiblog, partly thanks to people talking about Kiwiblog on Public Address, and finally thanks to Dad4Justice talking about people harassing him on Ian Wishart’s blog. Ian Wishart is, of course, also a hopeless Googler of his own name.
Hi, Ian. Hope you’re well.
Anyway, my own-name-Googling results have been supplemented by some GODDAM UPSTART IN THE U.S.
Listen, pal, I don’t care if you’re some kind of amazing drummer who’s even better than that dude from Def Leppard. I’m convinced that you’re younger than me, and therefore I WAS HERE FIRST.
But then, while self-Googling, I find this image. Bizarrely, I’m credited with the image by name. The title, “Dragons of Massive Geek”, seems vaguely familiar to me so I Google THAT and find that yes, I came up with the phrase whilst referring to the animated Dragons of Autumn Etcetera film that came out at one time or another and had Michelle Trachtenberg as a voice actor in it. Not only that, my entire post from two years ago has been reproduced in full on a website named michelletrachtenbergnu.de.
Who puts my name to a movie poster of Dragons of Autumn Twilight on a fan-art site? Who posts an entire SH1 post on a site about Michelle Trachtenberg, including the Tenacious D quote under the picture? Are they the same person?
Perhaps we’ll never know.

I love how this shows up when I google myself now.
If we Google each other at the same time, it will break the internet. Fact.
When I Google myself now, I discover that I am a "single father, taking computer classes" – http://www.sacbee.com/2010/08/13/2955849/steinber…
